Terms of use
Last updated 3 November 2026
These terms cover your use of roofparrot.com — the free calculators, the estimate and report documents they produce, and the paid licences. Using the site means accepting them. They are written to be read, so if anything here is unclear, write to support@roofparrot.com and it will be rewritten rather than explained.
1.Who you are dealing with
RoofParrot is run by Anurag M, a sole individual seller based in India. The same person writes the code, records the sources on the maths page and answers support@roofparrot.com.
Registered business name and number, where one applies: TODO: registered business name and registration or GST number, or state plainly that this is an unregistered sole proprietorship.
Address for formal notices: TODO: full postal address for legal notices. For everything else, email support@roofparrot.com — it is read by the same person and is far faster.
2.The calculators produce estimates, not inspections
Every number this site returns is derived arithmetically from what you supply — the measurements, the outlines you trace, the pitches and the prices. The site does not inspect your roof and nobody from it has been on your roof. It cannot know that there is a second layer of shingles under the first, that the decking is soft in the north valley, or that the pitch changes over the porch.
The measuring tool is part of that and not an exception to it. It displays aerial imagery supplied by a third party, of a date we neither control nor warrant, and computes an area from the outline you draw on it and the pitch you enter. It measures the horizontal projection of that outline only: it does not see a dormer cheek, a gable wall or any other vertical surface, it does not read the pitch from the photograph, and it cannot tell you that the roof was altered after the photograph was taken. An outline traced carelessly, or a pitch entered wrongly, produces a confident number that is wrong, and the site has no way to know which.
A takeoff from this site is not a substitute for being on the roof. It is the arithmetic you would otherwise do on the back of a sheet, done consistently and with its sources written down. Treat it the way you would treat your own arithmetic: useful, checkable, and your responsibility to verify before anyone orders material or signs anything.
Where a figure comes from a published source, that source is named on how the maths works, including the places published sources disagree with each other and the places a figure is trade practice rather than specification. Coverage rates and stock lengths also vary by manufacturer, product line and batch: check what your supplier actually sells before you place an order.
Nothing on this site is engineering advice, a structural assessment, a code compliance determination, an insurance adjustment or a legal opinion. Code requirements vary by jurisdiction and are amended; the ventilation calculator cites the IRC, but your local amendments govern, not our citation of it.
3.Your bids are yours
You are responsible for every price you quote and every order you place. If you send a customer a bid based on a number from this site, that bid is between you and your customer. We are not a party to it, we do not see it, and we cannot stand behind it.
The estimate and report documents the site generates are your documents. You own what you put in them and what you do with them. Equally, you are responsible for their content being accurate and for any licence number, warranty wording, payment terms or claim you choose to print on them being true and lawful where you work.
4.The free tier
Using the tools requires an account. Signing in is an email address and a code, and nothing else: no password, no card and no company details. While the login is a closed beta, an address has to be one we have added before it can sign in.
The free tier itself costs nothing, requires no payment method and does not expire. It covers the measuring tool, every calculator on the site and the estimate PDF, and it allows 3 jobs live at a time and 3 AI-written quotes a month. A quote sent from the free tier carries our name rather than yours. That is the intention behind the product and not an introductory offer. We reserve the right to change what the paid tiers include, but putting an existing free calculator behind the paywall would be a broken promise, and it is not something we intend to do.
You may use the free tier commercially — that is what it is for. You may not resell access to it, scrape it at volume, wrap it in your own product, or present its output as another product’s.
5.Paid licences
There is one paid tier, available monthly or yearly: Solo at $59 a month, or $499 a year. A paid tier covers one roofing business and one sign-in. The free tier takes no payment and no card, but it does need an account: everything in the product sits behind a sign-in.
What a licence is. A non-exclusive, non-transferable right for one roofing business to use the paid features. A licence key is activated per device, with a limit generous enough for a laptop, a phone and a tablet. It is not for sharing between businesses, publishing, or reselling. Exceeding the activation limit is handled by raising it on request, not by cancelling your licence.
Renewal. Every paid tier renews at the end of its period — monthly or yearly — until you stop it, and you can stop it at any time. If one lapses you drop to the free tier: the work keeps working, and the paid features stop. Jobs you have already saved are not deleted, and documents you have already downloaded remain yours. Nothing is held hostage to make you renew.
Changing plan. To move between monthly and yearly, or to cancel, write to support@roofparrot.com. Moving to yearly takes effect when the month you have paid for runs out; cancelling stops the next charge and you keep what you paid for until it runs out. Nothing is refunded for the part of a period you chose not to use, apart from the 14-day refund below.
Trials. Where a trial is offered it requires a card. Nothing is charged during the trial. If you do not cancel before it ends, the subscription begins and the card is charged at the advertised price. Cancelling during the trial costs nothing.
Plans that are no longer sold. Earlier versions of RoofParrot sold a monthly, a six-month, a yearly and a three-year licence, and before those a lifetime licence. None of them can be bought today. Keys already issued under any of them keep working on the terms they were bought on, are supported and refundable exactly as they were, and cover the paid features as they stand and those added afterwards — nothing in withdrawing a plan from sale changes what was already bought.
If RoofParrot closes. If the service is ever discontinued we will give notice and make the documents you have created exportable before it closes.
Suspension. A licence may be suspended or terminated for payment reversal, for resale or sharing of the key, or for a sustained attempt to break or overload the service. Where the cause is not deliberate, you will be told what the problem is and given a chance to fix it first.
6.Payment, tax and refunds
Dodo Payments is the merchant of record for every sale. They take the payment, they handle sales tax, VAT and GST where it applies, they appear on your card statement, and they issue your receipt and your licence key. We never see or hold your card details.
Prices are shown in US dollars. Any tax Dodo is required to add is shown at checkout. Your bank’s own currency conversion or foreign transaction fee is between you and your bank.
Refunds: 14 days, any reason. Write to support@roofparrot.com within 14 days of the purchase with the email address you bought under, and the refund is processed through Dodo. You do not have to justify it. After 14 days refunds are discretionary, and we would rather hear what went wrong first. A refund ends the licence.
Nothing here limits refund or cancellation rights you have under the consumer law that applies to you, which sit on top of this policy rather than underneath it.
7.Availability
The calculators run in your browser, which means they keep working when our server does not and when you have no signal at all. Saving, licence checks and anything that touches our server do depend on the service being up, and no uptime figure is promised: this is a one-person operation and claiming four nines would be a lie.
Features may be changed, added or withdrawn. A withdrawal that materially reduces what a paying licence bought will be announced in advance, and if it leaves you with something you would not have paid for, say so and you will be refunded pro rata.
8.Liability
The site is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, no warranty is given that a result is fit for a particular job, that a coverage figure matches the product your supplier has in stock today, or that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss: a bid priced too low, material ordered short or over, a job lost, a contract you entered on the strength of a number, lost profit, or lost time. Those are outcomes of your commercial decisions, and the site is a calculator, not a party to them.
Where we are liable, total liability is limited to the amount you actually paid for RoofParrot in the 12 months before the claim — which, if you use only the free calculators, is nothing.
None of this excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
9.Your data
What is and is not collected is set out plainly on the privacy page. The short version: the calculators run in your browser, so nothing you type is sent to us to get an answer; drawing an estimate PDF or a photo report does post that document’s contents — including the customer name, the job address and the priced lines — to the route that renders it, and neither route keeps a copy; a job you save is stored for you, because being there tomorrow is what the paid plans are for; the six analytics events carry no personal data and no job addresses; and your card details, your licence key and the email you bought under are handled by Dodo as merchant of record.
10.Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. The date at the top changes when they do. A change that materially affects a paying licence holder will be sent to the email address on the purchase before it takes effect. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the updated terms; if you do not accept them, stop using the paid features and ask for a pro-rata refund of an unused annual term.
11.Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising from them, are governed by TODO: governing law and the courts with jurisdiction — needs a view from someone qualified, given an India-based seller selling to US customers through a merchant of record.
Before any of that: write to support@roofparrot.com. Nearly everything that looks like a dispute is a misunderstanding about a number, and those get fixed in a day.
Questions about any of this go to support@roofparrot.com, and they are answered by the person who wrote it. See also privacy, support and how the maths works.
